You can use the Remote Desktop client for Mac to work with Windows apps, resources, and desktops from your Mac computer. Remote Desktop client on Mac OS X High Sierra (10.13.5) gets a black screen after logging off from a remote computer when connecting via a Remote Desktop Gateway. To close the remote desktop session, you can sign out from your windows instance by clicking on Start menu icon, then clicking on user account icon on the left side of the start menu and finally click on Sign out button. Press the Continue button to proceed, it should connect you to your desktop. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed in this respect and what's stated in my answer is still valid and applicable. D, I just installed Microsoft Remote Desktop, 8.0.43 (Build 27325), in macOS High Sierra and it's still in the same location as stated in my answer.
